Belding silk thread case The Belding Silk Company was established by five brothers, including Milo M. Belding, who was a descendent of one of Ashfield's early settlers. (The Beldingville district of Ashfield is named for them.) By around 1910, the Belding brothers had large mills in Rockville, CT, Northampton, MA, Belding, MI, and San Francisco, CA. Milo M. Belding donated the Belding Memorial Library in memory of his parents. This thread case is a beautiful example of how silk thread from the Belding silk company was displayed in stores. (More about the Beldings can be found in The History of Ashfield Vol. I and Vol. II.) |
